Middle School Service Learning
Grade Level Initiatives
Each grade level has a distinct service project with a theme. Grade 6 focuses on the environment, Grade 7 has a humanitarian focus and Grade 8 develops a relationship with the younger children within the ACS Community and fundraises for the village they visit when they travel to Thailand.
The GIN Program connects students with an inspiring program that motivates young people to “be the change.” Students attend large conferences and return with many ideas to make a difference at home. Our local event is GINergy which is a student-run weekend.
Service outreach in the middle school is included in the schoolwide Roots and Shoots umbrella. It is project- or interest-driven, rather than a regular club based commitment. Students can join the ACS Green Team that meets during the week. Another option is to support a student initiated project to assist an orphanage in Kenya.
