Under the patronage of Cabinet Member and Minister of Tolerance of the UAE, His Excellency Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak Al Nahayan, around 400 guests attended the American Community School of Abu Dhabi (ACS) Gala Evening held on March 8, 2019 at the Rosewood Hotel Abu Dhabi.
The ACS Gala Evening is a wonderful and joyous tradition that facilitates opportunities of excellence which have an immediate impact on student success and the school’s mission. Co-chaired by Karine Morency-Flinter and Yvette L. Campbell, this year's theme, Together We Are One: One School, One Community, One World, celebrated the harmony of more than 80 nationalities represented at ACS.
“Your school is successfully preparing its students to live their lives in the twenty-first century as knowledgeable, thinking, moral and practical people, committed to improving the quality of life for their communities, their nations and for people everywhere!" -- H.E. Sheikh Nahayan
NEXT YEAR'S gala evening will be held in April 2020 with planning commencing soon. For all sponsorship and volunteer inquiries, please contact email@example.com.
The program gathers prominent members of the greater Abu Dhabi community, government officials, faculty, staff, board members, parents and special guests. Highlights this year included a showcase of K-12 student artwork, an inspiring student-produced film, multi-cultural attire worn by many guests, socializing, and an elegant sit-down dinner.
In his opening remarks, H.E. Sheikh Nahayan acknowledged the ACS as an integral part of the Abu Dhabi education landscape since 1972, with the late founding father of the UAE Sheikh Zayed’s values being included in the school’s own core values, and its students undertaking humanitarian service-learning projects that demonstrate commitment to the citizens and residents of the UAE.
The late H.E. Saif Ghobash (1932-1977), first UAE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, former ACS Parent & ACS Trustee, whose contributions to the UAE and world continue to bring together people of all cultures, nationalities, and religions was honored posthumously with the 2019 Community Leadership Award and film to pay tribute to his life. His family was present to accept the award from H.E. Sheikh Nahayan, a moment in the Year of Tolerance and in ACS history not to be forgotten.
The master of ceremonies Hadley Gamble, Reporter and CNBC Presenter, acknowledged other dignitaries present: Her Excellency Dr. Rabaa Alsumaiti from the Ministry of Education and United States Embassy Chargé d’Affaires, Steven C. Bondy.
