ACS Board of Trustees announces that Monique Flickinger will be the next Superintendent of ACS, starting August 1, 2018.
We are delighted to announce that Monique Flickinger will be the next Superintendent of ACS, starting August 1, 2018. This announcement is the culmination of a thorough, year long, international search that introduced us to an outstanding pool of candidates. Throughout this search, we looked for a leader who believes in our mission of developing the whole child and embodies our core values of curiosity, courage, compassion, and integrity. In Monique, we found a passionate, enthusiastic and dynamic leader to build upon Dr. Robin Heslip's mission-driven and caring leadership.
Monique comes to ACS from The Metropolitan School of Panama, where she is the Head of School. Monique has a broad understanding of K-12 and IB schools. She oversaw the authorization of the MYP/DP program at the Metropolitan and was elected to the IB Head's Council. She has been instrumental in advancing the curriculum, strategic vision, and the design of a new campus. Her experience with integrating technology and innovation trends, while maintaining strong community relations is strongly aligned with our mission and values. Monique is also an accomplished Middle School leader elevating student enrollment, the curriculum, and achievement of the schools she led.
Monique is nearing completion of her EdD in Educational Leadership from the University of Wyoming. She received her Masters in Educational Leadership from the University of Victoria in Canada and obtained her BA in mathematics from Brigham Young University.
In accepting our offer, Monique sent the following message: "I am deeply honored to join the ACS family and to become part of this community of learners. I'm excited to work together with the strong leadership team and excellent faculty as we continue to build on the strengths of the past while pursuing our goal of engaging, preparing and inspiring students for the future. I am looking forward to deepening my understanding of the school as I work with the Board and Dr. Robin Heslip during the transition."
We look forward to welcoming Monique when she visits our campus as part of the transition process in the coming months. We want to sincerely thank all members of the ACS community for their commitment to this search process and invaluable and thoughtful feedback. We are particularly grateful to Waheeda Al Tamimi for her support throughout this process, faculty, staff, parents, and students who listened and completed surveys on all candidates, and the Search Committee who put in long hours over many months in this important effort.
Finally, we are deeply grateful to Robin Heslip for her extraordinary leadership of our school. She was the best kind of partner we could have had in this search — helpful, respectful, and always focused on what is best for ACS. We look forward to celebrating Robin's accomplishments over the course of the coming academic year.
