21 Years Later, Alum Parent Re-Creates Epic UAE Flag Photo
ACS celebrated the UAE’s 51st National Day on a beautifully sunny morning filled with Emirati culture, rich history and great fun. This year, ACS’ National Day celebrations were especially unique for two reasons. One is our 50th anniversary as a school and the other is an epic UAE flag photo re-creation more than two decades later.
The school had the immense pleasure of welcoming back alumni parent, David Chambers, to re-create the historic photo of a giant UAE flag held up by students on Cramer Field. Mr. Chambers owns Trident Support, the company responsible for leading the design and supply of flagpoles both in and out of the UAE. David and Leslie Chambers are the proud parents of three former ACS students who were among those holding up the giant flag in the original 2001 photo.
In honor of the 50th anniversary of ACS, Mr. Chambers reached out wanting to facilitate the re-creation of the original photo 21 years later. This year, after enjoying dances to traditional music, henna designs, camel rides and delicious luqaimat, hundreds of students and staff were directed to the field to be part of this exciting photo opportunity in 2022. Within the span of 15 short minutes, students and staff from grades 4 to 8 held up the 20mx40m flag. To watch the event in action check out the time-lapse video here!
