Together…We Learn! معًا…نتعلّم during Arabic Week

ACS recently joined together to elevate the significance of the Arabic language and promote Arabic literacy during its annual Arabic Week. This year’s theme was ‘Together…We Learn!  معًا…نتعلّم’, focusing on how learning Arabic brings us together as a community. Students engaged in fun Arabic educational activities such as Mystery Readers, Book Signing Events, calligraphy, games and performances, in addition to special engagements with the following visiting authors:

  • As an author and grandmother with an impressive social media following, Teta Aida shared her famously engaging stories to our younger students during Arabic classes.
  • Khadijah Kudsi (filmmaker and author of children’s books that focus on financial literacy, the history of UAE money, and giving: UAE Old and New Money and What Can I do with my Dirhams?) visited Elementary Library classes, and some Middle School and High School English classes to read and share her journey of writing and publishing.
  • Ali Ezzeddine, renowned educator and children’s book writer, engaged with Elementary School students in a reader-writer workshop on how to be creative with the Arabic language. He also held a dynamic session for parents, focusing on strategies for helping children express their creativity through writing and reading stories. Approximately a dozen parents attended.
